Germany offers many different traditional dishes in the different Landers. German cuisine is famous for serving great quantities of food, but even this factor varies in the different countries of the Federal Republic of Germany. The potato is the main ingredient in the German diet, and you will find it in thousands of different dishes. During Christmas many homes have the traditional potato salad (cooked in many different styles with different tastes and textures). Take your time and enjoy a lunch in a great typical German restaurant! In Bavaria they serve Knodel (potato balls made of mashed potatoes and other ingredients). The white sausages are called Weisswurstchen and are also ver common here. Red cabbage and Sauerkraut accompany most meat dishes.
